Vision
The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia
(FDRE) Education and Training Authority, formerly called Higher Education
Relevance and Quality Assurance Agency (HERQA) is instituted as an executive organization
in the country responsible for regulating, monitoring and evaluating the
quality of education in General education, TVT (Technical and Vocational
Training) and higher education institutions.
The Authority is established under the
higher education proclamation 351/2003 first as agency and lately as authority.
The authority is established as the main regulatory body of educational
institutions in the country.
Since 2022, the council of ministers
entrusted the authority with wider responsibilities and thereby necessitated as
Education and Training Authority. Furthermore, the Education and Training
Authority is in charge of issuing accreditation, conducting quality audits, authentication
and equivalence for various educational qualifications in all sectors of education.
The authority is relentlessly working to realize
quality and effectiveness in Ethiopian educational institutions.
